F.A.Q.

Do I continue to insure my car?
Yes, you are the owner of the car until it is sold. Therefore, you are obliged to continue insuring it.

Must I continue to take my car for the periodic motor vehicle test?
Yes, you are the owner of the car until it is sold. Therefore, your car must meet the requirements of the periodic motor vehicle test; otherwise your car license will be suspended (the regulations differ per country).

Must I continue to pay the road taxes for the car?
Yes, you are the owner of the car until it is sold. If there are still road taxes that need to be paid (the regulations differ per country and per the age of the vehicle), you must continue to pay; otherwise your car license will be suspended (the regulations differ per country).

Does someone drive my car while it is being brokered?
During the intake of your car, one of our specialised mechanics will check your car technically by taking it for a short ride.
Customers can only take your car for a test drive in order to confirm the purchase of the car. One of our salespersons ALWAYS rides along with the potential buyer.

How safe is my car when it is parked at E & R Classics?
Your car stands inside of our showroom. The showroom is secured with a top-quality alarm system and a sophisticated camera system (inside and outside), and the grounds around the facility are secured with locks and the fences that are equipped with electric current to prevent burglars from entering.

When do I receive my money?
As soon as your car is sold, we make an appointment with the buyer about when the car will be delivered. The buyer has to pay for the car before the delivery. We do not deliver any cars on credit.
As the seller, you get paid 16 days after the delivery of the car. We must apply this period with regard to the European right of the consumer to return the sold item.

How can I be sure that I receive my money?
E & R Classics is one of the biggest Oldtimer sellers in Europe. Our company sells 500 oldtimers each year and has 65 employees. We have a Triple AAA status at credit control agencies; this is the highest possible status. Feel free to check our references.

Do I also have to hand over my vehicle registration documents to E & R Classics?
No, that is not necessary; a copy is sufficient. Only when the car is sold, we need to have the original documents.
Many customers find it handy to submit the original documents immediately. That is possible. We record this in the consignment agreement and the documents go into our fire-resistant safe.

Must my car stand at E & R Classics or can I keep it in my garage?
We only advertise and sell cars that stand in our showroom. Our customers often come from far-away places and therefore we want to have all the vehicles available for their perusal. Furthermore, the large number of visitors that come to our showroom increases the chance of selling your car if it stands in the showroom.

Do you also trade-in cars when my car is placed on consignment?
Yes, we also trade-in cars if your car is placed on consignment. This increases the chances of selling it by 60%. We buy the customer’s car in order to sell your car. The purchase is on our account and at our risk.

Do you accept any car on consignment?
No, with every offer we examine if the car fits into our collection or whether the prices and quality ration is good. We also check the technical condition of the car.
Feel free to offer us your car. Via an initial telephone conversation or an e-mail, we can already assess whether we will be able to do business together.

Can I use my car while it is standing on consignment?
No, that is out of the question. Our customers often come from far-away places and therefore we want to have all the vehicles available for their perusal. Furthermore, the large number of visitors that come to our showroom increases the chance of selling your car if it stands in the showroom.

How long is the consignment period?
The consignment period is 9 months.

What happens if the car is not sold during the brokerage period?
90% van de autos are sold within 9 months. If a car is not sold after 9 months, then we consult with you. Both parties are entitled to cease the cooperation framework without any costs, but we might also suggest – after consulting with you – to continue for an additional period.

Are there any costs related to brokering?
No, you have no costs for you related to brokering. We only request that you bring in your car after cleaning and polishing it well. If you don’t do that, we will ask for reimbursement for getting it cleaned and polished.

What does E & R Classics do in order to sell my car?
Per car, we draft a step-by-step plan of the best way to sell the car. This marketing plan depends on the brand, model, quality and price class.
We invest lots of money in advertising and marketing at fairs, in newspapers, Internet and our beautiful showroom in order to sell your car. This is all at our expense.

How many vehicles does E & R Classics have on sale?
On average, we have 250 oldtimers for sale in our showroom.

Can I also offer a car that’s in poor condition or needs technical work?
Yes, that’s possible. We assess every car on it own merits. Restoration projects or cheap cars are handled by our sister company, Sun Classic Cars.
If your car needs minor technical work, we can organise the repair work before or after the sale in our workshop, where we employ 22 specialised mechanics.

My car does not have Dutch documents because it comes from abroad. Can you broker such a car as well?
Yes, that’s no problem since we sell vehicles worldwide. It makes no difference from which country your car comes as long as your car papers are valid and you are the legal owner of the car.

As a company, can I also ask you to broker the sale of cars?
Yes, certainly. We have more and more companies that use us as brokers for selling cars. Please, indicate whether the car is a non-VAT car (VAT cannot be claimed from the Tax Authority) or a VAT car (VAT can be settled over the profit margin).

Does E & R Classics also buy cars?
Yes, we buy approximately 80% of the cars. It might happen that if you offer us your car for brokering, we might propose to buy it ourselves.

Will you be careful with my car?
Nearly all the employees at E & R Classics are lovers of oldtimers and they are involved in the cars that we sell. Obviously, we are careful with your and our property. In the unlikely event that something goes wrong due to the fault of one of our employees, then our insurance policy covers everything.
