1949 Porsche 356 Pre-A Cabriolet
Before put into official production in 1950, there were approximately 50 Porsche 356 models produced between 1948 and 1949. These early models were handcrafted in Austria, primarily using VW parts. Designed by Porsche, the early 1949 Porsche 356 Pre-A Cabriolet was based on the Volkswagen Beetle. Unlike the Beetle, the 356 was a sports car, winning its first victory in the Innsbruck City Race when it was just a few weeks old. Today, the Porsche 356 Pre-A Cabriolet is perhaps one of the most desired classic cars to come from Porsche besides the 911.
